The wine farms – Rossow, Le Fortune des Vins, Smoorberg, and Mount Jolley – exist in a crease in time in their deep valley, almost completely untouched by the outside world. Until the wine maker on Rossow, Deetlef Koen, is murdered. Koen was a sexually voracious womaniser, a man of reckless extravagance and egocentricity. His murder sets in motion a series of events that rip open the past, forcing the secretive residents of the valley to acknowledge and accept their own flawed history. Koen’s violent death and its investigation irreversibly change the lives of his numerous lovers, their spouses, a wine writer, an adopted daughter, an estranged ex-wife, a house keeper, a head worker and the detective sent to investigate the crime. |
