 The Northern Land This is the story of Emília de Sousa, the greatest actress on the Portuguese stage at the end of the XIX century, who abandoned her career for several years to marry the rich Madeiran Gaspar de Barros and become the Baroness Madalena do Mar. She was a beautiful as Sissi, the Empress of Austria, with who she socialised in the winter of 1860/61, and she decided to construct a mystery that lasted for four generations and over a century.
