Ana Clara, an Angolan dancer, has a frail-looking body. She was only 16 when the Revolutionary Government of the Popular Republic of Angola entrusted her with the creation of a dance school. She then founded the Angolan Company of Contemporary Dance, where she digs for the roots of both classical and popular dance as an inspiration for her own dynamic language, strongly seasoned with social overtones. Despite the civil war which raged through Angola for 25 years, the consistent quality of her work is now acknowledged and praised by
specialists from all over the world.
