MARRABENTA STORIES

The sound of Marrabenta, tradition al Mozambique 's folk music.

Young Mozambiquean musicians who play Jazz, Funky and Hip Hop join a group of elders who play Marrabenta and form a band called MABULU. This unexpected combination of different types of music works extraordinarily well, as we will see during their South African tour. Like all trips, this one is a return to the origins of each of the musicians and also one of acknowledgement. Considering Mozambique 's last fifty years of colonial warfare, civil war and natural disasters, to watch these images and to listen to these sounds of peace and entertainment is a moment of intense emotion.
