HANDS OF CLAY

The imaginary world of a unique, refreshing artist from Mozambique.
Reinata Sadimba was born in 1945. Her age hasn't erased her incredible, lively sparkle, as if she were still a cheerful little girl. Her clay sculptures tell us all sorts of stories drawn both from real life and her country's folkloric tradition.
Despite the fact that she now lives in the capital Maputo, Reinata Sadimba often visits her family and other artists from the Maconde ethnic branch. The fantasy-filled journey into this particular culture shows that her art is also her way of exorcising ghosts and demons.
She has held exhibitions in the USA, Japan and Germany which have earned her worldwide acclaim.
